REPORTING FOR DUTY: WHAT YOU WON’T SEE ON PBS

The following are excerpts from an interview conducted in Tel Aviv, Israel, in June 2009 for the NOW on PBSNOW adapted FilmAt11’s original documentary, Reporting For Duty, for its episode, “Inside Israel’s Army”, which aired on July 17.

RONEN HERSHKOVITZ is an actor living in Tel Aviv.  In addition to acting gigs, teaches drama at a high school, volunteers with a humanitarian organization, and, when necessary, serves as a medic in a reserve IDF unit.  He saw action in the 2006 Lebanon War, an experience which affected him profoundly, leading to a reevaluation of some of his core beliefs about his coutnry and place in it.  In the following series of posts we present excerpts from an interview with Ronen conducted in Tel Aviv in June, 2009.
